Custom synthesis

Your route, our plant. We take a process from a literature reference or a laboratory notebook, run it through calorimetry and a written hazard assessment, and tell you what it will take to make at scale before we quote a campaign for it.

Toll processing

Your material, our unit operations. Distillation, drying, milling, blending and packing on dedicated trains, with cleaning validated between campaigns and the validation record handed over with the batch.

Analytical support

GC, HPLC and Karl Fischer in a laboratory on the same site rather than at a contractor two states away. A result that comes back the same shift is what lets a campaign be corrected while it is still running.

Scale-up

Heat that leaves a flask has nowhere to go in a reactor

Scale-up is where custom chemistry actually fails. A route that behaves in a two-litre flask can be uncontrollable in three cubic metres, because the surface area that carried the heat away has almost disappeared — so every process here goes through reaction calorimetry and a written hazard assessment before a plant date is offered. We would rather tell you at the laboratory stage that a route needs changing than take a campaign booking and discover it on a night shift.

Feasibility

You send the route, the specification and the volume you expect. We come back inside three working days with whether we can make it, what we would want to change, and what is unknown. There is no charge for this stage and no obligation after it.

Laboratory and calorimetry

The route is run at bench scale in our own laboratory and put through reaction calorimetry. This is where a process either becomes a plant date or becomes a redesign, and it is deliberately before any campaign is priced.

Kilo lab campaign

A proving run at ten to fifty kilos on the pilot train, producing material you can qualify with your own customer and a batch record you can read. Most process problems surface here rather than in the plant.

Plant campaign

Scheduled on a dedicated train with cleaning validated before and after. The batch record, the analytical certificate and the effluent load for the campaign are handed over together when the material ships.
